What role do the testes play in the body?

The testes play a critical role in the male reproductive system primarily through the production of sperm. Located in the scrotum, the testes are responsible for spermatogenesis, the process where sperm cells are produced. This process occurs within the seminiferous tubules of the testes, where germ cells undergo division and maturation to become mature spermatozoa.
